Safeguards & Security Specialist (MC&A Accountant) National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec) - Las Vegas, NV MC&A Accountant


National Security Technologies, LLC (NSTec), a prime contractor to the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration, has an immediate opening for a Safeguards & Security Specialist (MC&A Accountant). Work location is at the Nevada National Security Site located 65 miles north of Las Vegas, NV. U.S. Citizenship required.
Active Department of Energy (DOE) Q Security Clearance preferred.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Nuclear Material Control and Accountability (MC&A) program at the Nevada National Security Site (NNSS). This position provides nuclear material accounting activities relating to external and internal nuclear material transfers and inventory adjustments. The position reports to the NSTec Accountability Supervisor. Position interacts with a broad range of NNSS management and staff, national laboratory representatives, and various government agencies. Accounts for nuclear materials using generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), in addition to knowledge of applicable DOE Orders and MC&A Procedures. Reviews accuracy of accountability documentation for the authorization process to ship/receive accountable nuclear material at the NNSS. Reviews transaction and inventory data and reports to the Nuclear Material Management and Safeguards System (NMMSS) as directed. Validates data, and researches and assists in resolving discrepancies in reporting transactions. Assists the Tamper Indicating Device (TID) Administrator, in ensuring an effective system of records and controls of TIDs is maintained. Reviews procedures, desktop instructions, and other documentation. Within area of responsibility, ensures all safety and security policies and practices are followed.
Successful candidate must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Accounting, or in related field or equivalent training and experience. Demonstrated basic knowledge of accounting and principles. Familiarity with automated accounting systems. Demonstrated success in providing customer support and interface. Experience in interacting with a broad range of management, staff, and various government agencies. Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, and successful problem resolution and negotiation skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to provide input on hardware and software requirements for MC&A systems at the NNSS is desired. Knowledge of NNSS programs and operations, familiarity with interpreting and implementing NSTec and Department of Energy policies, procedures, and practices and experience working in a multidisciplinary environment is desired. This position requires unescorted access to radiological and Material Access Areas.
